WCOA Mission & Themes
WCOA’s mission is to bring together finance leaders, policy setters, accountants and business leaders in a world-class business event that embraces the future of our profession. There’s much more than an accounting theme.
WCOA’s mission is to bring together finance leaders, policy setters, accountants and business leaders in a world-class business event that embraces the future of our profession. There’s much more than an accounting theme.
We celebrate diverse cultures, recognise key milestones, and set a blueprint for the future of accounting.
WCOA will look back at how the world has changed since the 10th Congress held in Sydney in 1972, connecting themes from that event to the WCOA 2018.
We will also mark the 40th anniversary of IFAC, taking a look at its past, present and future as the peak global body for accountants.
In convening this accounting event, the organising committee has four goals – reduce, rethink, recognise and report.
Our mission is to reduce waste, the use of energy and emissions, and consider innovative ways to provide fresh food and beverages to Congress attendees in sustainable ways.
We want to rethink the supply chain and partnerships needed to bring Congress to life. This includes celebrate diversity – the diversity of Australian culture, of women in leadership, and cultural diversity across the globe.
It’s also our goal to recognise the role youth play in the future of our profession, plus recognise Congress will leave a positive and lasting imprint on our host city of Sydney.
Finally, we want to report and communicate the environmental, social and economic impacts that the WCOA accounting conference will leave behind.
