Vice President - Research Guidance and Support - CPA Canada
Creating sustainable enterprises
Gordon oversees a team of senior professionals who conduct research and knowledge development to produce a substantial portfolio of technical content. This content is used to develop timely and relevant guidance and thought leadership that is helping shape the future of the CPA profession.
Areas of focus include strategy, risk and performance management; external reporting and assurance; and corporate oversight and governance. Climate change and broader issues of sustainability, along with the impact of emerging technologies, are core elements of this work.
Gordon leads CPA Canada’s strategy on climate change and the role of CPAs in creating sustainable enterprises. Since 2013, he has been a member of Canada’s National Climate Change Adaptation Platform Plenary and is a member of the National Assessment Advisory Committee on Canada in a Changing Climate. Gordon is on the Board of Directors for the Clean Air Partnership, a Toronto based not-for-profit organisation focused on advancing the implementation of actions to foster low-carbon, resilient communities.
Prior to CPA Canada, Gordon has over 15 years of experience in senior leadership roles in Canada’s manufacturing and construction sectors, professional audit and advisory services, in addition to a senior training and development role in the Ontario Ministry of Finance. He has also been a Director and member of the Governance and Audit Committees with a number of not-for-profit organisations.
He holds a Master of Education with a focus on the role of leadership in organisational learning and adaptation. Gordon believes that CPAs must play a leadership role in the creation of responsible and sustainable enterprises.
