Professor of Accounting, and Acting Head of the School of Accounting, RMIT University (Melbourne, Australia), one of Australia’s original and largest Universities. His prior affiliations include Deakin University, La Trobe University and Federation University, Australia. In a former life, he was registered tax agent providing taxation services and advice to small business clients
Steven’s primary areas of research is professional ethics in accounting and accounting education. He has a particular interest in codes of ethics, fraud, deviant behaviour, professionalism and ethics education. Steven has published several articles in international peer reviewed journals including the Journal of Business Ethics, Corporate Governance – an international journal, Critical Perspectives on Accounting, British Accounting Review and many others. His public profile had led to a number of invited presentations with Universities in Australia, Asia and the US.
Steven is a member on a number of editorial boards and is presently the Accounting Section Editor for the Journal of Business Ethics; and Associate Editor for Accounting Education.
Steven is the lead author of two textbooks, the most recent titled: Principles of Ethics and Corporate Governance in Financial Services, published by McGraw Hill, 2012.
Steven has convened the RMIT Accounting Educators’ Conference, a forum promoting the important role educators play in shaping the future of the accounting profession
