About the Speaker

Shekhar Kapur is a visionary filmmaker and storyteller with over 30 years experience in the entertainment industry.

Having worked in both India and Hollywood, he is best known for his films Bandit Queen (1994) and his Academy Award winning films Elizabeth (1998) and Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007).

Prior to entering the film industry, Shekhar worked as a Chartered Accountant and Management Consultant in London.

In 2006, Shekhar formed Liquid Comics (formerly known as Virgin Comics) with Richard Branson and motivational author Deepak Chopra. Five years later in 2011, Shekhar formed the company Qyuki with Oscar winning composer A.R. Rahman and Cisco Systems to promote creative talents in India through social media.

In 2000, Shekhar was awarded India’s state honour, the Padma Shri.
